Niranjan Hiranandani Elected NAREDCO National President

Founder-Chairman of Hiranandani Group and CMD of Hiranandani Communities, Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani was elected as the National President of National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) on 21 September in a ceremony held in Mumbai.

At the event, Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani said working in the new regulatory atmosphere will be challenging for the industry but the new reforms will help boost the Indian Real Estate industry. “Given that it is one of major contributor to India’s economic growth and we would like to ensure it contributes more in years to come, under the new regulatory regime. Real estate should remain labour intensive, so that it continues to generate skilled as also unskilled employment, as also supports growth in 267 related and intermediary industries like steel, cement, floor cladding, furnishing etc, to ensure further growth,” he added. He also ensured commitment and cooperation in fulfilling the aims and objectives of NAREDCO.

NAREDCO pioneers efforts and voices in developing effective and ethical business practices in the real estate industry. Dr. Hiranandani said he will work towards retaining this stature that is critical to stakeholders in the industry. He stressed on the need for Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) to increase growth.

This was preceded by announcement of Union Minister of State with Independent Charge in Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri declaring new PPP policy for increased private investments in affordable housing sector. Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Housing for All by 2022' vision, Dr. Hiranandani extended NAREDCO's support to this ambitious and reformatory initiative particularly by faciliating interaction between developers, bureaucrats and the government.
The following months at NAREDCO will witness increased focus on streamlined processes to obtain clearances and permissions, improved economic business viability, renewed focus on green building projects and building capacity for timely delivery of projects.

NAREDCO was established as an autonomous self-regulatory body in 1998 under the aegis of Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, Government of India when the Government of India redrafted the National Housing & Habitat Policy, giving due importance to the Housing and Real Estate sector, thereby declaring housing for all citizens by the year 2010. The Indian housing and real estate sectors and the allied industries hailed the establishment of NAREDCO, as the apex national body for the real estate industry and visualized it as a single platform where Government, industry and public would discuss various problems and opportunities face to face which would result in speedy resolution of issues.
